What would encourage you to go to Mexico more often?

Would you go to Rocky Point more often if the:

Border wait times were reduced,

Security were increased, or

some other reason?

Let us know your thoughts!

We entered at Sonoyita on Labor Day, just as a line 4 cars wide and 2 miles long was trying to re-enter the U.S. through that port of entry. It was the world's largest parking lot. Clearly, the U.S. border protection racket is ridiculous, and is going to ruin holiday travel to Mexico for thousands of travelers.

We, on the other hand, had an excellent time at Las Conchas, in a Rocky Point Res rental. The beach was spectacular, the sunsets sublime, the sea wind rejuvenating, the town hospitable. Thank you very much for a perfect getaway.

When we returned to the U.S. several days later, there was no line whatsoever to cross back in.

We had a beautiful trip, the week after labor day. Thank you for an excellent place to enjoy a few days of solitude and incredible surroundings.

When we entered Mexico, the line of cars coming into the U.S. was about 2 miles long, and not moving perceptibly. The border crossing snafu will definitely diminish the tourism business in Mexico, if the feds don't pull their heads out.

Several days later, we did not have any line at all as we re-entered the U.S.

Thank you Rocky Point Res for a wonderful getaway!

My family loves Rocky Point and we cannot get enough of it. Unfortunately, we only get down there once a year, sometimes twice. We have stayed at the Sonoran Spa and Sea many times, always booking our reservations with Rocky Point Reservations. We have never had a problem and would never use another company to book our reservations.

We avoid busy travel times when we go to Mexico, and if we're traveling during fall break, we make sure we're crossing the border into Sonora on a Sunday and crossing back into the US on a Saturday. So, the long border lines are not a problem for us.

We would like to go to RP more often, but we typically choose to go other places where we get free hotel stays with our reward points. I think Rocky Point Reservations could easily persuade us back to RP more than once a year if they offered a points program similar to the large hotel chains, where you earn points for each dollar spent with Rocky Point Reservations (including car insurance or booking excursions through them) that can be used toward free nights at the one of the resorts that they can book. Not only would it lure us back more frequently, but it would give them a market differentiator and an edge over the competition, as I am not aware of any other reservations broker that offers such a program.

We have stayed in the Sonoran properties for the past 4 years. I love Rocky Point, but am very concerned with the recent increase in border violence. Though not specifically in the Lukeville area, violence in border towns as well as Sonora in general has been reported to be on the rise. This is the only reason I have not been to Rocky Point in the past six months, and likely will not go until there is some indication GETTING to Rocky Point is safe ( I realize the Sandy Beach area is safe).

It is sad the perception that Mexico and Rocky Point in particular is getting. A recent article cited a decrease in violent crime in Mexico that hits a 17 year low. The murder rate in Washington, D.C. is higher than Mexico City.

If you aren't involved in the drug trade, by and large, you are safe. It is the same as it is in the States. Nefarious activities get people into trouble, no matter what side of the border you are on. Lukeville, Sonoyta and Rocky Point are as safe or safer than many travel destinations in the United States.

We love Rocky Point and it's not the bad press or the border crossing that limits our trips, but our animals. You can bring your children but not your pets. We don't have children, we have a 100 pound yellow lab that might even have a better time in Rocky Point than I do. We can board her here in Phoenix or have someone house sit, but that's no fun for her and adds cost to the vacation. It would be great to have dog boarding in Mexico. We wouldn't bring her just to lock her up, we would let her have the time of her life during the day and the kennel could bed her for the night. I understand why rental units don't allow pets. I am also aware that Rocky Point is over run with strays from past visitors who have abandoned their animals. There are responsible pet owners who would like to take their dog to the beach for week and then take them back home. Someday we'll be a condo owner, but until then why doesn't rocky Point have dog boarding?

Pet boarding is an idea that has been toyed with in the past. In fact, at the Sonoran Spa and Sonoran Sea Resorts, there was plans on the table to offer this service. When the economy did a back flip, however, the plans were shelved. I will mention your comment to see if this is something that can be resurrected now that the worst is over for the tourism industry in Rocky Point.

Another thing to consider is the various vaccinations, etc. that pets need to enter Mexico and then reenter the U.S. Check with your vet or do some research about what is necessary before taking your pet to Mexico
